Archeological dig at Khirbet Summeily.

Jewish Studies Program

The Jewish Studies Program at Purchase College offers a minor concentration within the history major through an array of courses in Jewish history, as well as Jewish and Israeli literature, biblical history, historiography, Holocaust studies, Jewish arts, and Hebrew language. Course materials extend from antiquity to contemporary times. The approach is interdisciplinary and involves the faculties of history, literature, and language and culture. Students in any discipline can minor in Jewish studies, and history majors can concentrate in Jewish history. The program was originally made possible, in part, by a Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
